Dear Abbey…

Greeting humans! I’m Abbey and my mom says I’m so smart I should have my own guest blog to answer questions from you or your pets! First a bit about me:

My family rescued me when I was only 5 weeks old. I have two human brothers who like to wrestle on the floor, one canine sister (who gets a bit grumpy with all my puppy energy), a dad who is the head of the pack and a mom who lets me sneak on the couch when he’s not home. Now back to you!

Our first question is asked by Gia. Gia’s human is the lovely Ginger Calem. You can visit her HERE.

“Gia would like to ask Abbey if this vest makes her butt look big?”

Abbey says: Woof! Hey, mom…this screen isn’t scratch and sniff?? (Mom says: No!) Well, Gia, I think your butt looks mucho inviting.  I’d sniff it any day. (That’s how we find out about each other’s temperament to see if we can be friends, ya know.  A much easier technique than all that yappin’ humans do.) I think you look positively woofy but, my mom says she wouldn’t be caught dead with flower patterns on her hieny at the dog park. (My mom needs to share those treats she eats in front of me at night.)  Anyway, humans think we’re color blind but we’re not. The scoop is we just see two primary colors (blue & yellow) instead of three (red, blue & yellow).

So, there you have it, Gia! I give your butt five woofs!

What was the silliest thing you’ve ever dressed your pet up in? How did they react?

(*If you’d like to ask “Dear Abbey” a question, please send it to my mom: soespo (at) gmail.com with a picture of your pet.)

Abbey seems pretty smart to me. Maggie sent her a question. Maybe Abbey will have some good advice for Maggie, too!

Abbey’s pondering it as she lays upside-down on her half-chewed pillow.

Yay!! Gia’s debut! Abbey, you are so smart! *Gia-hijack* Woof — Hi Abbey. That woman always hogs the keyboard! You look pretty cool and anyone who gives my butt 5 woofs is a new bestie to me. I wish we could play. Hey, can you believe my human just shaved all my hair off, right when we get our first freeze in TX. Now she’s threatening me with a sweater. I wish she’d let me retain at least a shred of my dignity. Thanks for the reassurance that my vest is acceptable. I have to wear it in the boat so I might as well work the look as best as possible.

Oh no! You got shaved? Brrrr! You should have hid under the bed! Hope you get a real snazzy sweater to keep that heiny warm! Thanks for being our special guest today. 🙂 *puppy kisses*

“this screen isn’t scratch and sniff??” LOL!
My kid is trying to sew clothes for our parakeets…

Wow…if they succeed, please post a pic! 🙂

What a cute puppy! He’s gonna be a big doggie. I can see that I am missing out on all this dressing up the dog stuff. My doggie died, but I do have a granddogger! And she’s alway’s dressed up in something special in the winter. 🙂

    • #8 by Shannon Esposito on November 29, 2011 - 2:10 am

Thanks, Karen-I’m sure you spoil your granddoggie!

Abbey, you’re adorable. And Gia is such a cute. No, Gia that doesn’t make your butt look big! This post is a crackup. I love your Dear Abbey pet post and I’ll send you a photo of Dude when I dressed him up as Dudette!

    • #10 by Shannon Esposito on November 29, 2011 - 2:11 am

Thanks, Lynn! Oh yeah, you must 🙂

Aw… Love it! Gia, even if your butt DID look big, which is doesn’t, I’d give you a 10+ in appearance… Same for the sweet, wise Abbey.

So glad we humans don’t greet each other similarly…! 😉

He he…someone needs to tell my 5 yr. old twins this. They spend too much time with the dogs, I think!

I don’t know about Abbey, but my Luna definitely thinks my laptop is scratch and sniff 🙂 And she says Gia’s pink vest doesn’t have anything on her hat. It’s black with white doggie bones on it and holes for her ears. She’s mortified whenever I try to make her wear it 🙂

    • #14 by gingercalem on November 28, 2011 - 11:09 pm

Very funny, Marcy! Gia has a “Talk to the Paw” t-shirt that I particularly like. hee hee! We’ll need a picture of Luna in her groovy hat!

    • #15 by Shannon Esposito on November 29, 2011 - 2:14 am

Luna’s hat sounds fab! 🙂 I really have seen pets looking embarrassed when they have clothes on…it cracks me up.

Love this! Abbey is one smart dog, what with those typing skills. Did mom teach him? 🙂

    • #17 by Shannon Esposito on November 29, 2011 - 2:16 am

Well, mom does the typing, she doesn’t like slobber all over her keyboard. I just do the thinkin’ 🙂

    I can’t stop laughing.

What soulful eyes you have, Abbey. And Gia, you are too cute! Thanks for the laugh, Shannon.

    • #20 by Shannon Esposito on November 29, 2011 - 2:17 am

Thanks, Pat! I like that….soulful eyes. So true.

    Scratch & sniff! LOL!

Not only funny, but informative. Abbey’s such a smart dog, such a good girl! What? Scratching the screen doesn’t reach your ears? Well, have mom give you a treat for such a great post.

    • #22 by Shannon Esposito on November 29, 2011 - 2:15 am

Mom gave me a good scatchin’ from you, thanks!

Toooo CUTE!!! I loved it!!! Gia and Abbey – adorable! I LOVE the vest and would totally put that on Tess (although she might hate me for it)! Hubby and I had a full adult yellow slicker rain coat that we hacked up to fit Tess…so when we go walking in the rain, she’ wears a little rain coat of her own. It’s HYSTERICAL! Sadly, it’s a bit tight in the arms so it turned out to be only for looks rather than functionality. LOL!

    • #24 by Shannon Esposito on December 2, 2011 - 12:25 am

Oh, poor Tess! lol She must have been truly embarrassed…geeze mom 🙂

    Hehe! I love it!

My Chevy thinks Abbey should come and chase him cause he loves to be chased and there’s fresh snow on the ground so they won’t get too dirty, but his mom (Catria) is telling him she’s too tired and sore to keep an eye on them. She’s giving him that ‘through the eye brows’ look while he’s looking at Abbey’s picture. He’s getting a little frisky so I better go shoo him outside for a while. 🙂

  14. #26 by Shannon Esposito on December 2, 2011 - 12:29 am

Oh, your dogs are gorgeous! Abbey would definitely have fun running around in the snow with them…of course, it would be her first time in snow 🙂
